One Month Old

A whole month has passed since little Izze was born. Since her birth the longest I have slept in a row is four hours and that was this morning. She is well worth it and I think she is finally getting over her congestion/cold, yippee! Izze is growing each day, some of her clothes are already too small. We are so grateful she is a part of our family.I just had to share this, because I think the picture is too funny. As I was cleaning this morning I discovered this in the oven. Addie loves to pretend to make dinner and puts things in the oven to cook occasionally. I better start checking the oven before turning it on in the future.

Busy Bee

Addie has definitely needed some extra attention these days. She does just about anything to keep the focus on her. Luckily both sets of grandparents have been able to come and help out and keep Addie entertained. She loves to paint and play with play-doh, at first the painting was done on the paper. Then she decided it was more fun to paint her face, nails, and toenails. Addie also thinks it is fun to use Izze's diapers as diapers for her dolls and throws them away. I have to make sure to check the garbage for clean diapers before throwing anything else away. Addie also loves to share her toys with Izze and sets them by her while she is sleeping on the couch. All in all she is handling her new sister well, but does need a lot of attention and love.

"The Suitcase"

It's crazy to think Izze is almost two weeks old, I'm not sure where the time goes but the days seem to fly by with a newborn. When we left the hospital Izze's bilirubin levels were elevated and so we had to have her blood drawn on Saturday and Sunday to find out that she needed to be in the "suitcase" with the bili lights. We had to leave her under the lights all day and all night for two days, she could only be out for feedings. It was a long two days and I am so glad my Mom and Andrew could have the energy to stay up all night to watch her. She finally rebelled Tuesday morning around 3:00 am and wouldn't sit still under the lights so we called it quits for the night. Her levels finally dropped on Friday and so we don't have to have her blood drawn anymore, thank goodness.Addie has loved helping to take care of her sister. She always wants to hold her and help feed her the bottle. Addie is always smothering her with kisses and lately has helped to burp her by patting her back-sometimes a little to forceful.
