Over the Weekend

We went to Salt Lake this weekend to see Andrew's sister, Katie (who lives in Arizona) and meet her now fiance Brian (who lives in Scotland). I know it's confusing but it was a fun weekend and we are glad we could spend time with our families. Addie had fun playing with her cousins and running around both of her grandparents' homes. We don't have stairs at our house in St. George, and so she has not mastered going down stairs yet. The whole weekend was spent trying to lure her away from the stairs so we could hang out with everyone. It was definitely a challenge.

On Saturday I went with two of my sisters and my Mom to the new Pizzeria Seven Twelve in Orem. It was tasty and we had a good time chatting and drinking Diet Coke. Saturday night we spent time with Andrew's family. Brian and Katie shared their story of how they met, etc. and then he proposed to her, she said yes, in case you are wondering. We had a good time being with our families this weekend. We are glad to be home where it is warmer and there is no snow, however. We didn't get too many pictures, but I am posting some pictures of Addie's favorite thing to do besides going up and down stairs.

Hiking the Red Rocks, Part II

Since the weather was to be nice on Saturday we ventured to Zion's National Park to go on a hike. We did not realize the park would be covered in snow still. We started on a hike but turned around since it was snowpacked and where the snow had melted it was muddy. We did find an easy trail where there was only snow in a few spots. The weather was very nice with blue skies and even with the snow it was still warm in the sunshine. We let Addie walk at the very end of the hike and she had so much fun stomping in the snow and mud. She has no sense of direction though, she just walks in circles. As we tried to direct her to the car by holding her hand she would just fall to her knees until we let go and she was able to roam free.

Broken Window?!?

On Saturday morning I was awakened by a loud crashing sound that scared me a lot. I immediately woke up Andrew and asked if he had heard it. He is more of a sound sleeper than me and heard nothing. I made him go look and see what had made the sound. Andrew wandered around the house and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I told him it had sounded like the skylight cover in the bathroom crashing on the floor. He inspected the bathroom, but nothing was out of place. We went about our daily activities and I continued to search for anything broken, because I sure didn't imagine such a sound.

Later that afternoon Andrew went to take a shower and as he stepped in he yelled because something had cut his foot. He couldn't figure out what had made him start bleeding. He started searching a bit harder and come to find out it was a piece of glass. Now he was wondering where does a piece of glass come from in the shower until he looked up and solved the crashing sound mystery. The bathroom window was broken! It is double-paned and only the inside pane was broken. How in the world does a window randomly break? I have no idea, but at least I am not crazy and hearing things.

Hiking the Red Rocks

I had to work on Saturday and so Andrew was watching Addie. He decided it would be fun to take Addie on a hike to the waterfall by the Red Cliffs recreation area. When I got home from work I was bummed that they had not waited for me, it sounded like a lot of fun. Addie enjoyed playing on the rocks and probably would have loved splashing in the water if Andrew had let her. Andrew bought a little football-shaped water bottle just for Addie. She loved carrying it on the hike and now carries it all around the house. Maybe next time I'll get invited to go on a fun adventure...
