Camping at Te-Ah

Last weekend we went camping with some of our friends in Cedar Canyon at Te-Ah Campground. Addie loved being outdoors and being able to play in the dirt. Within the first hour we were there she managed to fall down the cement steps leading up to the campground. The outcome was a big scrape under her eye and on her cheek, but it sure didn't deter her from going back to the steps. It was so nice and cool up there, we actually wore long sleeve shirts almost the whole time. It rained on us also, which was fun, but made for a messy clean up when we left.
Addie loved playing with her friend Maddie. In the mornings when she woke up and heard Maddie she would say "Maddie" and get so excited to go play. She also had fun looking at Rue, our friend's dog, from a distance. She is still leery of big dogs or dogs in general, but she wasn't so scared by the end of the trip. Our camera battery died on Saturday and so I don't have too many pictures to share. We had a fun time camping and can't wait to go again.

Mesquite and Fireworks

When we first moved down here we would go to Mesquite over the 24th of July, because we had a coupon to stay at the Oasis Hotel and Casino that could only be used during the week and not on holidays. Since Nevada does not celebrate the holiday and we get it off work it is the perfect time to go. It has become a bit of a family tradition. This year was no exception, we went down last night and apparently so did everyone else. Our room was in the boonies and we had to drive to the pool, how crazy is that! We must admit the rooms are ghetto, but tolerable for a night since it is free. Addie loved ransacking the place, her favorite being the phone and climbing inside the drawers. She could also open the door and so we had to barricade it.

Today we went swimming most of the day. Addie had fun in the pool, she loves to jump into the water from the steps. She says jump a lot and then gets brave enough to actually do it. After we are done swimming she loves to have a towel wrapped around her just like we do. She then carries it with her to the car and has to have it on her lap the rest of the time.
We ended the day with some fireworks, well some sparklers and flower bloomers. Addie held the sparkler for maybe a second before passing it back to Andrew and refusing to touch another one. Her reaction to the rest of the fireworks is priceless, she covered her eyes the whole time and would peek through occasionally. After it was over and Andrew had cleaned everything up she was brave enough to go into the street and look at the spots on the road. She even pretended to throw the fireworks into the road like Andrew did.

Something Fun...

I found this on my friend's blog and thought it would be fun. Hopefully everyone that reads it will leave me a comment. I am curious to see what others remember or how the same memories are remembered differently. I hope you'll comment whether you are a regular visitor I know about or someone that has "snuck" onto my blog via someone else's blog (I sneak peeks at other blogs that way too!).

1. Add a comment on my blog. Leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Computer blues and the Croup

Over the weekend our computer decided it wanted to stop working and so it did. It just started randomly restarting itself and taking forever to boot up. Luckily Andrew has some mad computer skills and so he is getting to the bottom of the problem. It is still out of commission for the most part, but he thinks he found the problem, faulty memory, or so he thinks. We'll see in the upcoming days.

Starting last week Addie was running a slight fever and seemed more lugubrious than usual. Then she would perk up and seem fine and so we didn't think too much about it. On Saturday afternoon she developed a smoker's voice and a slight raspy cough. What was most unusual however is the fact that she would lay on the bed or the ground and watch a whole episode on the Disney Channel. If you know Addie you know she doesn't sit still for anything for longer than ten minutes. We took her to the doctor this morning and he diagnosed her with the croup after hearing her cough once. I should have held her up to the phone and saved myself a copay since it is a virus which means no antibiotics. I have watched more Disney Channel this weekend than I care to admit, but I must confess I am a total Hannah Montana fan and want to thank Disney Channel personally for having a marathon of it on last night. The one plus to Addie being sick is she takes super long naps, I have so much time I don't know what to do with myself, too bad the computer is busted or I could get some stuff done. Better go see what is on Disney Channel now...I can only hope it is "Hannah Montana".

Family Reunion

Last weekend we went to my family reunion up north. We all met at the Murray Fun Days Parade on July 4th. Addie had a lot of fun watching the floats and helping her cousins pick up the loads of candy that was tossed at us. In the afternoon we were at my sister's house and there was fun for all with a bounce house, swimming pool, wiffle ball, water balloon launching, a yummy BBQ, and a sweet fireworks show to end the day. Addie loved playing in the bounce house and throwing the water balloons on the grass. She enjoyed the fireworks at first when they were silent. When some made noise she snuggled her head on my shoulder or tried to run away from the fireworks. As we were cleaning up and everyone was leaving Addie decided she needed one last dip in the pool and went in clothes and all. She had a blast and just kept splashing and sitting on her bum.

On Saturday we went on a hike at Cascade Springs, it was so pretty and green in Provo Canyon. Addie kept trying to get into the water on the hike. She enjoyed walking all by herself. She especially loved her snack bag and had to hold it herself and pick out all the M&M's. We also went swimming later that day at a pool in Orem. Later that night we watched "Peter Pan" outside. We camped in my sister's backyard and I was surprised at how cold it gets at night, it was kind of refreshing.
We finished off the reunion by going to Lagoon on Monday. We had a blast and Addie did better than we thought she would do. I took her on Puff the Magic Dragon and she had a scared look on her face the whole time. When it was over she said "out" immediately. She enjoyed the carousel and the train, although she was kind of scared on the train and snuggled her head into my shoulder again. The highlight of her day was the little tugboats. She rode with my niece, Heidi, and she had so much fun. She would turn the wheel and ding the bell. As soon as the ride was over she would say "more, more". It was so fun to watch her ride in the boat. We had such a good time the whole day, we loved the new ride Wicked, it truly is wicked fun. We also rode the Rattlesnake Rapids three times in a row, I was quite dripping with water after the third run. We stayed until closing and Addie was asleep in the car before we got on the freeway.
